Quick update
Hello travellers!
I’m currently planning my next trip and I want to tell you what I look for when I’m researching using travel blogs.
After reading a post, I check the “About Me” page.
Why?
It gives perspective.
Somebody in their early 20’s travelling for the first time will have a different perspective on a place than a retired couple that have travelled all over the world for many years. They would recommend different attractions, have a different budget and probably stay in different types of accommodation.
Someone in their 30’s slow travelling as a digital nomad would have a different approach to someone in their 30’s that is budget backpacking.
An American writing about Europe will have a different opinion and different culture shocks to a fellow European writing about a European country.
And that is why this information should be on your “about” page.
It is a pet peeve of mine when travel blogs don’t have this basic info on their website:
Where they are from (the country you grew up in matters!)
Rough age range (early 20’s/ mid 30’s/ late 50’s etc)
Travel style (backpacker/ vanlife/ flashpacker/ luxury travel)
Brief travel CV (how many countries they’ve been to/ how long they’ve been travelling/ have they lived abroad)
Job (remote and travel continuously/ take weekend breaks from home)
All of this information is important as it shapes your beliefs and lets me know if it is relevant to my opinions as well.
If you want to find out more about me, check out my about me page that clearly tells you the most important travel related information
Or if you have a bit more time, you can read my full story of how I spent the 10 years travelling the world.
